So let me start by saying I first discovered this author in a Christmas anthology back in November ish. Her snippet was a short cliff hanger that was apparently part of this series though I didn\’t know it at the time. I finally got to her on my \”authors to check out\” list. I started with the first book in this series thinking it was the continuance of what was in the anthology. I\’m still not sure where the anthology short is supposed to fit in, and if I wanted to read this series to the end I may find out. However, after two books I can\’t bring myself to pay for another. I\’ve got a thing about finishing books I\’ve paid for unless they\’re greatly offensive. That being said, I give this book 2.5 stars, a 50 percent rating, based on her originality. The set up and idea of the books actually really good and I haven\’t read anything quite like it before. However, everything else falls flat. I\’m not going to do a recap of anything as this is the second book. So I\’ll just jump right in. First off there are a ton of grammatical errors. Now I\’m not crazy picky as I know these writers on Amazon don\’t always have editors because they\’re doing it all on their owe. I love quite a few of self published authors. However, when the errors are making it hard to understand what\’s happening that\’s when I get a bit unhappy. Also I\’m not sure if I missed a book somewhere but there\’s so so much I didn\’t understand and two books in I still have no explanations. There\’s also a lot of little things that are brought up and not resolved. Maybe that\’s fixed in the other books though. However things like certain words I don\’t know or terms she uses and even parts of the plot line I had to reread several times trying to understand and I still am clueless. I think this may be a flaw in the writing. Things needed to be set up better and certain things needed better explanations. There were also a lot of times where even when she was talking in her head I still had no idea what was going on. I spent half of both the first and second books thinking \”what does that mean?\” And \”I don\’t understand what is happening right now.\” I don\’t want to give examples with spoilers. While being confused was half of my problem, the other half was the romance aspect of it, and the lack of it. If you want to write action you go ahead, but when advertising as a paranormal romance/urban fantasy genre, I expect some romance. From the short story I read that introduced this author(s) to me, I expected much more on this front. The short advertised a steamy romance with just as much action and detailed sex scenes. I know some don\’t like detail, but I myself prefer it. However, putting aside the fact that the short advertised in depth steamy scenes and the series barely hinted at anything sexual throughout two entire books, there was still barely any romance. What romance there was, was very little and pretty terrible. The love interest in the short I read was amazing, like I couldn\’t wait to read more about Morgan and Gamble, so when I started reading about Morgan and Grayson, I was pretty bummed but thought \”well if the writing is the same who cares?\” I was sadly disappointed. This brings me to my last issue, one of my biggest pet peeves is a heroine advertised as strong and kick butt but is actually not. What\’s even worse, is said heroine being really awesome but being completely weak where the love interest is concerned. Morgan I thought was a fairly strong heroine, not as strong as I would have liked because some of her reactions were not that of a super bad ass witch/fae princess, however where Grayson was concerned it was the same as I read in most other stories that drive me crazy. He\’s upset because she won\’t follow his lead, so he still wants to pick an alpha female but that female will lead beside him in place of Morgan. This is just disgusting and by far my biggest problem with a book. In the books that really portray a strong female lead the Male lead is always extremely turned on by the alpha female\’s strong will and inability to bend when they want it. The bad ass heroine who Morgan should be shouldn\’t be willing to talk about how it\’ll work with Grayson having another alpha female for pack needs and her as his side chick. This made me not only lose any interest and desire I held for the alpha Male but also killed any and all love I had for Morgan as well. Know your worth girl, there\’s nothing bad ass about a heroine letting her love interest walk all over her just because he\’s hot. With all that being said, the general idea of the story was good and I did end up going two books into the series. So if the things I mentioned above won\’t be issues for you then you\’ll probably really enjoy this book. However, if you don\’t like the hero to walk all over the heroine and don\’t like a heroine who just lies down and takes it, this isn\’t the book for you. Unfortunately for me that issue, the lack of romance, and the confusion was just too many hits for me to want to pay to read on.

Morgan(a) is trying to find her place in this world, unsure whether to be Fae or Witch. Having magic from both, but only trained in Witch leads her to her Father, the Seelie King, to learn more about her Fae magic. Not exactly welcomed by the upper Fae leaves her fighting for her life on a regular basis. This is mostly due to her cousin, Fortunato, an Unseelie Prince, who wants the throne and will do anything, whether moral or not, to gain that throne. In the meantime, she is tracking a rogue wolf while she has to deal with Grayson, her boyfriend, his issues with his pack and the Shifter Coalition and what place he wants Morgan to have in his life. He\’s proving to be as much hindrance as asset which just gives her that much more to worry about. When her good friend Penelope intercepts a deadly spell meant for her she finds herself sidetracked by the need to find the cure so she can remove her from Faerie. Having made friends with the Pack she is working with to find the rogue has helped her by giving her sorely needed backup, but the way Gray keeps giving her grief is interfering in everything she\’s trying to do. She may love him, but that doesn\’t change the fact that he\’s a major pain in her backside. Lots of adversaries, lots of intrigue, and lots of anxiety caused by Gray leaves Morgan constantly off balance and afraid more loss will enter her life. And still not having a handle on her Fae magic just makes things that much harder. We watch the characters grow a bit more, and the world build a little further in this volume of the Half-Blood Huntress Chronicles. I find myself rooting for Morgan while booing Grayson for his poor behavior. I\’m also finding it amusing following Morgan around while she stumbles all over the place trying to get too many things accomplished in a very short time. I\’m looking forward to her, hopefully, putting Gray in his place, and finally deciding where she wants to go with her magic and her life, even if it means combining the two magics and dumping Gray and his juvenile attitude. A great book for the YA crowd. No steamy sex, but then it\’s not really needed. These are young characters, in mind if not necessarily in age, and appeals to the youth in me. Well done, Dee! Looking forward to number 3!

Audiobook Heir of Storm (Half-Blood Huntress Chronicles #2) by D.D. Miers Graceley Knox
Good story although the plot totally jumped full into an undefined relationship between the heroine & the alpha from book 1. Desperately needs a proofreader- it at least use spell check & search/replace for . (Since I think someone did that to add a bunch in in places they make no sense. I will continue on with the series & hope someone has reviewed it before publication!

Audio Heir of Storm (Half-Blood Huntress Chronicles #2) narrated by Astrid Morgan
Lots of things happen but Gray doesnt deserve her. What is his problem. He wants to sleep around with other women and treats Morgan like crap. Otherwise I am very interested in the story and Morgan is a very fun character to watch and she is a true hero. Cant wait for next book…. but gray either need to commit or Morgan needs to get rid of him and move on.
