Mixed feelings abound during this book. Im not sure how much comes from reading other reviews. I agree with some and disagree with others.
My biggest disagreement I gave with other reviewers is the frustration over how big of a part Des played in spite of being dead. I felt this was handled very well by Blake. Des was the key connection to their ending up together in the first place. Without her in a prominent role, Nick and Hayley have no meat to their story. I did not see Des as looming over their intimacy or coming between them being together.
Nick was frustrating at times, but all of the guys have been. Face it, men are stupid and frustrating when they fall in love. When they are alpha, it turns them into martyrs. I personally had no problem connecting with Hayley or Nick. I liked how she worked through her issues. I love that Nick was all in once he woke up and realized the family he nearly walked out on was determined to save his arse.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. I may or may not read it again later. I do recommend it to anyone who enjoys the series and/or other titles by Lexi Blake. Solid 4 of 5 stars.

Once again Lexi Blake brings us into the world of spies, intrigue, romance and a bit of BDSM to keep hot! I love this series so much I will never get tired of it and that is saying a lot because most others I start to not care about the new characters. But the Mckay / Taggart folks are so wonderful I devour every book in the series.
We met Nick briefly a few books back but then became more acquainted with him in Submission is not Enough when he was mourning the loss of his partner/lover Desire. It turns out she wasnt the love of his life. It was actually her young cousin Hayley who he meets through Des develops a friendship with. When Hayley is, older she tells Nick her feelings for him on the heels of a huge fight with Des he has an unforgettable night with the woman he hopes to spend the rest of his life with, Hayley. Unfortunately, Des and fate have other plans and he leaves poor Hayley with the thought that he doesnt want her, choosing revenge over love. This devastates her of course but she preservers, goes to college becomes a history professor. She has a nice quiet life, until Desires death turns Hayleys life upside down. In order to save her life, she needs to turn to the one man who broke her heart for protection.
I loved Nick and Hayleys chemistry at first knowing their backstory I thought she would let him walk all over her but she proved me wrong. She put him in his place for leaving her and lying to her and once she understood his lifestyle she wanted to know more about the man she fell in love with so long ago. Nick thought he was protecting Hayley by leaving her, classic hero mistake. Once Hayley is back in his life he cant resist the need to have her. Hayley wants to be his partner as well as his lover and once Nick realizes thats the only way he will be able to have the woman he loves its all sunshine and roses from there. Well sort ofDes left them a big old mess to handle so there is a bunch of suspense, a bit of violence, a whole lot of sarcasm and a few bodies to be disposed of. Ian and Charlotte Taggart play a big part in this book and I was so happy to get more of this terrific couple. They added an extra special spice to this one especially when Nick uses their sexual exploits at the Garden to get Hayley in touch with her submissive/voyeur side. When Hayley and Nick stop letting their pasts with Des get in the way of their future they are able to see what really matters.
I cant wait for Brodys story the teaser we got at the end of For His Eyes Only has me chomping at the bit to know more.

Audiobook For His Eyes Only (Masters and Mercenaries #13) by Lexi Blake
To quote the lyrics from the Spy Who Loved Me…..Nobody does it better than Lexi Blake!! For His Eyes Only is beyond fabulous!! Nick and Hayley’s story is a study of two people who have lost all the loved ones in their lives, mistplaced trust, missed opportunities and lost love. Now they are once again thrown together in a dangerous situation that requires them to completely trust one another. The whole world seems to want to take Hayley from Nick for unknown reasons. It’s up to the McKay-Taggart team to unravel the mystery. Nick is determined to keep her safe even if if mean walking away. The mission is suspenseful, dangerous and riddled with intrigue.
Her attention to detail is phenomenal, the characters are riveting, and the storyline suspenseful, intriguing, action filled not to mention oh so sexy and hot. I loved every word. And, once again her treatment of Ian “Big Tag” Taggart is absolutely hilarious. He is absolutely the most sarcastic a$$hole there is but I love him to pieces.
Do yourself a favor. If you haven’t read all the books in this series. Do it! You won’t be disappointed. If you only read this book you will definitely get a taste of Lexi Blake’s literary mastery. She’s number ONE in my book.

Audio For His Eyes Only (Masters and Mercenaries #13) narrated by Ryan West
I love this series! They are always the perfect mix of action, adventure and love. This is Nick and Hayley’s story.
Hayley is Desiree’s cousin and Nick is Desiree’s lover/muscle man. 5 years ago Nick made the heartbreaking choice to follow his need for vegence against those who killed his sister versus his love for Hayley and now they are thrown together. Someone is after Hayley because of what her cousin left her and the only one she can turn to is Nick, the man who loved her cousin.
I liked this book a lot but not the best in the series to me. The chemistry between the 2 main characters came in fits and spurts. Just when they start to sizzle, the subject of Des comes up. Didn’t like how much time was spent rehashing the relationship and “love” between Nick and Des, really hurt the development of a deeper bond between Hayley and Nick in my opinion. Also got a little skeevy when it came out her dad, who turns out is not related to Des, was sleeping with her too. Seemed more like she was the heroine most of the time, not Hayley.
Overall it was good, just not great.

I need Nikoli in my life!
One of the best characters Lexi Blake has ever written. Broody, morose and hot as sin.
Hayley is a strong female lead who has the hots for Nikoli and also brings along a whole bunch of fun with international assassins knocking on her door.
D/s based romance at its best.
Lexi Blake delivers exactly what you want to read especially with the fabulous characters from the world of MT as a supporting cast.
As the 13th book in the world of MT it really is best read as part of the series but it is so well written it can be read as a standalone.
