I sincerely hope the author doesn’t plan to end this series here! There are way too many things left incomplete! Does Lt. Pimples get anywhere with Zia? Does Kaika provide an heir? Do Therrik and Lilah actually become an us? SO many questions they’re too numerous to mention! With the tenuous cease fire between Iskandia and Cofahre obviously it’s a bit difficult to come up with good adventures, but if anyone can that person is this author. It just feels like she left too many terrific characters kind of hanging and I, for one, am not ready to say good bye to this cast of characters and this world in this time. Please, Lindsay, at least wrap up a few relationships and give us a peek at the growth of the Zirkander children! They have to have an interesting childhood growing up with Jaxi and Bhrava Zaruth teaching them, and with housemates like dragons and budding sorceresses! Surely there is at least one more story here?

DISCLAIMER: The following review was originally posted on my book blog (link in bio).
If there’s anything certain about Buroker’s writing, it’s the fact that once you start you cannot really stop – it’s full of fast-paced action and funny dialogue and awesome characters. Oaths is no exception to the rule as it was just that. Fast-paced, funny, and filled to the brim with laugh-out.loud-worthy dialogue. If you’re not adoring Bhrava Saruth the way I am, then this book should help you get there as Ridge is helping Bhrava Saruth build his temple and, really, that dragon is the bomb of all characters.
There’s plenty of hiccups before Ridge’s big day, but luckily these characters are well-handled in solving all of those situations. Also, if you were waiting for Ridge’s mother to finally *see* magic, this book is it and oh how much fun it is too!
Also, the extra story in the ending of my kindle edition was a lot of fun as well. How can one not enjoy seeing Therrik and Ridge together?! Well, I certainly can and if such an opportunity should ever rise again, I definitely will again, too.

Audiobook Oaths (Dragon Blood #8) by Lindsay Buroker
After a long break, and re-introducing her “Dragon Blood” universe
with the side-series “Heritage of Power”, Buroker returns to the
mainline series. We start what seems to be a few years before the
Heritage series, with series heroes crack Iskandian pilot Ridge
Zirkander and time-lost sorceress Sardelle living together and
Sardelle pregnant, but before the wedding, which is one of the main
plotlines in this installment.
Along with Sardelle trying to work up the courage to tell Ridge
he’s going to be a father, and Ridge trying to work up the courage
to invite the King to the wedding despite him (Ridge) being sorta
responsible for the previous semi-destruction of the royal palace
in an episode that totally was not his fault, expatriot Cofah,
ex-pirate, scientist Tolemek has been kidnapped from his lab and
it would be a Bad Thing if the secrets he knows fell into the hands
of Iskandia’s enemies. Also, Iskandia’s only dragon ally, who
believes that he’s a god (and that Sardelle is his High Preistess),
is getting antsy at the slowness of the Iskandians building him
a temple…
This is not a “big” book, it is more fairly small story bringing
beloved characters back on stage (for those who missed the “Heritage”
series), but it has the trademark Buroker humor and banter, and the
various plot lines cross in somewhat unexpected and satisfying ways.
There is also a bonus humorous short story about Ridge on an errand
with one of the men he hates the most (but now has to put up with)
that goes south in an unexpected manner.

Audio Oaths (Dragon Blood #8) narrated by Caitlin Davies
Hilariously funny in places, the sarcasm of Jaxi, the dry wit of Weltard combined with the amazing creature that is Bhrava Saruth along with the more reserved Phelisthot brings these otherwise excellent tales to another level. The subtle change in the interaction between Ridge and Therrick is also a great turn and I do find myself more and more intrigued and already have the next chapter of their stories ready. After all there is the bound to be magical baby…The assassin’s daughter…The pirate scientist and not to mention the fact that the king is now ……. No spoilers…you will have to go read it yourself

Ridge and Sardelle are planning their wedding, well Ridges mother is planning it. But of course its Zirkander so nothing goes as planned. Before the big event there are lots of disruptions, including spies, shamans and kidnapping. All of the regulars are involved and the humor is wonderful. I love all the quips and laughed out loud quite frequently. This is a really great wrap up for the series. I also want to point out that the Heritage of Power series takes place in this same world and many of the same characters are in it although not as the main leads. So if you like the Dragon Blood series try it.
