Shame on You (Fool Me Once #1) by Tara Sivec Published: February 25, 2014 Montlake Romance I purchased this book on Amazon. Tara Sivec is a USA Today best-selling author, wife, mother, chauffeur, maid, short-order cook, baby-sitter, and sarcasm expert. She lives in Ohio with her husband and two children and looks forward to the day when all three of them become adults and move out. GD busting-back-door requests. Kennedy runs a badass business with her badass lady besties. And when a new case rolls in, Kennedy doesnt expect the person that rolls in with it. As the case heats up behind closed doors, sincere truths get revealed. I wasnt sure I would like this book because I wasnt sure how I felt about the PI aspect but I very much enjoyed this one. The characters are fantastic, the plot is comedic, and the pacing is fast. Early Tara Sivec is absolute gold. I adored the characters in this book. Kennedy, Paige, and Lorelei are strong, intelligent, sassy, capable, and absolute badasses. Griffin is the most dreamy love interest. The side characters were all so funny. Tara has such an incredible gift for bringing her characters to life, whether its a main or side character. Their personalities are so well developed and so thorough that you feel like you know these people. I think I am going to enjoy this series. Book one was steamy, funny and full of chaos. I cannot wait to see what book two contains!

Fun and flirty. This series is kind of a cross between the Janet Evanovich\’s Stephanie Plum series and Gemma Halliday\’s High Heels series. It\’s part mystery, part romance (friends to lovers) and totally full of laughs. It\’s shorter than your average novel and the story line moves quickly. There are some crazy antics that tend to lean towards the sillier side. Although there are one or two steamier scenes, it\’s not that main focus of the book. (Though it is a hot topic in the Protagonist\’s mind and often mentioned/thought about.) Three good friends, who had each been burned by a man in one way or another, join forces and open a Private Investigation business. Each one bringing something different to the table. This book features Kennedy, (who is hired by her father (a bails bondsman) to hunt down a bail jumper.) A divorced single mother of two, veteran and totally anti-girly-girl. She hates shopping and spending time in the salon. She curses a a lot, knows how to throw a punch, and doesn\’t take shit from anyone, including her tween daughter who is the total opposite of her. The characters are fun to follow. It\’s easy to read. If you are looking for a light-hearted quick read that has humor, sass and sexiness, this is the book for you!

Audiobook Shame on You (Fool Me Once #1) by Tara Sivec
I haven\’t read a Tara series in awhile so when I saw this set on sale, I had to grab it. I am a sucker for long lost loves, but I adore that this was a sort of he-waited-and-followed-her kind of love. Kennedy is not heart broken over her divorced, you get more of a feeling she is embarrassed and disappointed. Griffin was her best friend, and sort of the 3rd wheel of her and her ex since high school. The have a long history. Come to find out … he always loved her. I loved the side action of this book. It was funny and while dangerous, it was exciting. I also of course loved the best friends. I loved how they were different and awesome. My only reason for 4 stars was the kids. She is divorced and her ex is not very involved and while her bounty hunting is awesome – where were they besides just a few funnies about their clothes and interests. 1am at the office? Moving on to the next book and friend!

I was rather disappointed in this book in all honesty! I loved the Chocolate Lovers series! Loved it! But this book just left me vaguely annoyed. Kennedy OBrien found out her husband was cheating, and dislikes her husbands best friend Griffin Crawford, (who was apparently also one of her Best Friends) as she thinks he knew about the affair all along.(although at one point she says she found out that Griffin knew all along a few months after she kicked the ex out, then literally a couple of pages later, she is thinking that the very day she discovered he ex cheating, she went to Griffin, and then overheard him on the phone, telling he ex to keep quiet about it all and not tell her!) The thing is, I just did not like Kennedy! Am not sure where she is supposed to have met her 2 best friends, who she started her agency with, they seem to have no history! it is mentioned that as a teen, young adult she hung around with her brothers, cousins, Griffin and her EX, as they were in the army or similar and all liked to go off and do manly things I suppose like wrestle bears while naked and covered in war paint. Ok, I am just assuming that, but it is mentioned enough times how none girly she is! And given her complete derision for anything girly why she would be friends with these two other women is beyond me! Was just a major plot contrivance to be able to get 3 books out of this I think! She is an awful mother! Implying her 12 year old daughter is slutty and looks like a streetwalker! Clearly preferring the younger girl over the older one, as she had failed to make the older one exactly like her as apparently she knows \”You\’re not supposed to force your children to be like you, but come on, what parent doesn\’t at least try?\” Well, any other decent parent!! Ugh But that is ok, because soon she manages to get the kids out of the way, when the crappy ex who has not seen them in ages, shows up and she chucks her kids at them, then keeps telling him to keep them longer so she can sort out her sex life basically! There was no depth to the characters at all. I have no sense of who Griffin was as a person, other then a nice ass in jeans and rode a Harley! And what I knew about Kennedy, I did not like! It all felt a bit forced, ridiculous and plain daft!
