Storytelling is not an easy thing at all because a storyteller has to engage his audience at any rate otherwise the work will be boring and people will ignore it. Sue Monk Kidd can attract a large audience without being appeared as boring. In this book, the author comes up with a girl named Ana. The girl is present in an era when her services are not needed by society at all.

Ana wants to do something for the women of her age but she soon comes to know that she is unable to help herself. She is forced to marry a widower who is quite older than her. Instead of surrendering Ana stands for herself and what she thinks is the right thing. Then her fate makes her find teenage Jesus. From here on an adventurous tale starts which takes Ana to Alexandria and also makes her support the resistance.
Sue has added characters like Judas in the story and the later section, the story is connected more to Jesus’ life. It was the way of telling history in her own words. Good thing is that Sue i.e the author and narrator of the book has not tried to twist history related things in her way. She has just added a character of her choice in history and the rest of things go in the same way.

Just don’t try to overload things by listening to Sue’s work in bulk. The Invention of Wings and The Secret Life of Bees could be postponed for the next week as too much of such stuff can sometimes give you a headache. Whether you are a history lover or have a deep association with religion the book has everything which you want in a story.
