THE POISONWOOD BIBLE AUDIOBOOK
Nathan Price decided to leave his homeland and settle in Congo with his family during the era when Congo was facing terrible circumstances. Congo was on the verge of war with Belgium and still, this Baptist took his wife and four daughters and got settled in that strange land. When the family left home they took with them a lot of things from their home but none of that worked in that foreign land. Even the seeds that were sowed in the African soil gave a different taste after ripening.
THE POISONWOOD BIBLE
Barbara Kingsolver does not tell us the story of a man rather it is the story of an entire family that suffered heavily during the war. The world took a lot from the African people and Nathan’s family but both remained firm in their duty. The role of the CIA in these circumstances is also narrated very clearly by the author. Dean Robertson narrates the murder of the first African president in grave words.
So nothing was stable in this land including religion and economy. Flight Behavior and Prodigal Summer had a symbolic touch in them while this book on the other hand talks about a real picture in history. The situation of the people living in Congo at that time is also described correctly.

Also, this book does not only talk about the situation of the people, it also tells us about the causes because of which such things took place. Almost every developed country tried to take advantage of the condition of those poor people and no one came to help them in those crucial circumstances. People like Barbara have taken quite a bold step to talk about these matters openly.
