Just a quick backstory about myself- I have to be up at 6am to get ready for work everyday. I have an extraordinary love for and deeply value my sleep.
I stayed up will 3am finishing this because I just could NOT put it down. The story hooked its claws into me and would not let go.

This book is written so insanely well. It tells us things that have happened to bring our characters where they are but doesnt give a true view of these things until the end of the book. So throughout the read youre teased with these happenings wondering how they truly went down and finally you find out and youre left speechless!

Marbella is such a kicka$$ no holds barred character. She is strong, and willing to fight for what she loves, believes in, and knows is right! Her strength through out the book brought countless giddy moments to my life. She is interesting and keeps you on your toes!
Baelan is my current book crush. He is such a gritty and hardcore character! What he has went through is amazing and hes come out on the other side stronger for it and willing to be a total bada$$.

At first I thought I hated The Storm. By the end of the book I realize I love it and cant wait to see more.

This is such a seriously amazing book and it will give you all the right feels while also bringing a tear to your eye and making you fist pump like an idiot at 2am.
READ THIS and thank me later

This story is set in a fantasy world where elves and gargoyles continuously go through a power struggle that has lasted many upon many years. The elves are beautiful, near perfect creatures while the gargoyles are said to be twisted dark creatures with a penchant for violence and death.

Our main character has a title called ‘The Storm Princess’. This concept was a neat one albeit a little odd too. I can get a feel of what the author was trying to convey but the whole setting and world lacked world building and felt a lot like juvenile ideas without much of a backbone to support the facts and ideas. It felt like something was amiss. A canvas with daubs of paint splattered haphazardly without the use of any brushes or tools to blend in the paint to create something pleasing.

The main character felt two dimensional a lot of the time. You didn’t get a good feel of who she was. Her likes and dislikes. The traits that make her who she is. She does have a backstory, or, well, a major incident that is revealed later on in the book but everything did not come together as cleanly as I was hoping for it to. You would assume the character to be a teenager based on how she is written but she is well into her 20’s. It’s like she doesn’t know how to adult.

The main character’s potential love interest wasn’t too bad, if not as bland as her. At least though he wasn’t the typical arrogant male that we find (and love) in most novels. He was something different. Closed off, noble, trustworthy.

When I finished this novel I debated about purchasing the next in the series. Usually good books will stay with me and linger in my mind until I just have to keep reading. With this one I was able to open up another book and be absorbed into another world without a second thought about this novel.

Audiobook The Princess Must Die (Storm Princess Saga #1) by Everly Frost Jaymin Eve

Ok, I dont say this lightly, but this book has one of the best thought out plots Ive read in a long time! The world building was captivating. The main characters were gut wrenching. The tension was palpable. This is probably the first second chance YA romance Ive ever read. Some might call it NA, but the steamy scene was mild and non graphic. It was an amazing slow burn especially given the fact that the only steamy moment was a relived memory. But it gutted me… I kept hoping we would get some insight into Baelen and Marbellas past relationship… and I was not disappointed. It just made me understand every interaction between Baelen and Marbella so much better. I had, of course, suspected the reason behind their underlying tension. It was obvious that they had been in love at some point. I think what killed me the most is that its painfully obvious that their love and devotion is as strong as it was when they were separated 7 years before, but politics, curses and protocol still divide them. Im loving this author duo! There were a few times the descriptions dragged, but the overall story arch was amazing. Do yourself a favor and read this gem! Its a breath of fresh air if you are looking for something with a new approach away from the basic and mediocre fantasy/magic novels that seems to be published daily.

Audio The Princess Must Die (Storm Princess Saga #1) narrated by Megan Tusing

Im loving this new unique fantasy story by Jaymin Eve and Everly Frost. The Princess Must Die, book one of the Storm Princess Saga is creative, adventurous, and full of surprises. Marbella the main character and storm princess is strong and courageous. She learns of a curse that whomever she marries they will kill her. She decides to take the matter in her own hands and fight the other champions for her own hand. Baelen Ruth her childhood friend and first love makes this task very hard on Marbella. The chemistry between these characters is spot on and well written by the authors. I recommend this book, I had a really hard time putting it down. Cant wait for the next book.

This book caught my eye, as Ive read several series by Jaymin Eve that Ive thought were incredible (Secret Keepers, Curse of the Gods with Jane Washington, and Hive Trilogy with Leia Stone). At this point, if I see shes involved, thats good enough for me to give it a go. I hadnt read anything that Everly Frost had written or co-written before The Princess Must Die.

This story is incredible. The main character is a strong, take-no-prisoners type that has been forced to live a lonely life, and she doesnt shy away when life gets hard. I felt it was really well written and developed. If I had any qualms, its not the authors faults by any means. The novel seems to be getting grouped in with a lot of the reverse harem genre (perhaps because of Jaymin Eves collaboration on Curse of the Gods), but this story isnt a reverse harem to me. Theres a strong female lead and a lot of male characters, but only one male love interest. Jaymin Eve often has that type of scenario – it happens in Secret Keepers and The Hive. Thats not to say that this book isnt brilliant; it definitely is. However, if youre looking for a true reverse harem, this probably isnt it (its also slow burn).
