Really good story in a fast read. The background out of which the story grows is quilts, quilt patterns, and a quilting group, however the real story is the friendships, challenges, and personal issues of characters who are brought together in a small college town in Pennsylvania. Includes pictures of the quilt block patterns mentioned so even someone without a quilting background will enjoy the story. It\’s extremely well written, whether quilts are included or not…good basic everyday issues about living with the present and with the past. I have ordered the 2nd in the series and look forward to reading the whole series….in order.

This author definitely knows the difference between a quit and a blanket. As a quilter myself, sometimes I must put my needle down and look at life through someone else\’s eyes. With every quilt there is a story and it is nice to see quilt making is still highly regarded. I applaud this author\’s storytelling through quilts in this series.

Audiobook The Quilter’s Apprentice (Elm Creek Quilts #1) by Jennifer Chiaverini
I enjoyed reading this book very much. The characters were nicely developed and the continuation of the quilt lessons was interesting as well as informative… I am a fiber craftsman so I find this type of information in the development of the story fun. The story was a bit predictable. I give it 5 stars because it entertained me and I found no flaws; however, I would not put this on my list of \”Great Literature\” . The fact is, I found this book a better read than some Nobel Prize winners that I have read! Have fun with this story and consider continuing on to the next books if you want to see what happens to the characters and their quilts.

Lots of great character development and this dealt with issues that can affect any family. I couldn\’t put it down and bought some more of the series. Looking forward to getting them. It is an older series so pay attention to the date it was written. Cracked me up when they talked about a car phone.

I don\’t know if I\’ll read more. As a quilter, I want to like them. Sara is a very annoying protagonists. Everything her poor husband says us clearly a stab at her .
