The Turn of the Key audiobook free

Started out interesting, however the same story line went on and on with an unsatisfying conclusion. I dont recommend this book

The Turn of the Key audiobook streamming online

I feel like the author was trying to make a long book out of a flimsy story. It was overwrought, overwritten and verbose. Every scene and every description was 3 times too long. Example: My necklace. My necklace. My necklace!!!

Audiobook The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware

This was the worst book I\’ve listened to on Audible. Literally 90% of the book is the protagonist complaining and whining about her circumstances. I kept listening because I thought it would get better, but it got duller and duller to the point I\’d rather be in another room to do laundry and other chores I absolutely dread. When I got back, it was just the protagonist whining about the same things. The highlight of this book was when the protagonist was initially trying to figure out how to work the smart home system. It made me smile because I could relate to some aspects when I first set up my smart home like \”Turn on Lamp. Turn on Light?\” etc. However, even that got exasperating really quickly because the protagonist literally kept complaining about it every 5 minutes. I can\’t believe this book has so many good reviews. It\’s a story that could\’ve been told in 30 minutes without the narration of the protagonist\’s God awful whining. Terrible, terrible, terrible in so many ways.

Audio The Turn of the Key narrated by Imogen Church

I usually like Ruth Ware novels and was excited for this release, but the main character spends the first 3/4 of the novel whining about various things with nothing moving forward; the author found countless ways for her to say she cant figure out how to work a smart home system, how difficult it is to Nanny somewhat difficult children and the dull, ghostly happenings that plague her when shes trying to sleep. I also usually like Imogen Church but this reading is so melodramatic when describing her google searches. Waste of a credit.

Ruth Ware spoiled me with her first book. I thought she had so much potential as an author in my favourite genre. I pre-orderd \’The Turn of the Key\’ in anticipation, thinking perhaps she was getting back to her original writing style. I was wrong, and I am done with reading anything she writes. (I\’ve read or listened to them all). This book is awful. It\’s boring, the main character is an idiot, and nothing seemed to happen in the book that wasn\’t already transparent. I hated it, and at the end I said aloud \’Seriously, this is IT??\’ Don\’t waste your money. The good reviews are baffling. Imogen Church is magnificent but even she can\’t save this train wreck. Have a nice life, Ms Ware. -Wendi
