HOMEGOING AUDIOBOOK
Yaa Gyasi talks about slavery and the domestic life of two sisters who were not destined to meet afterward. Effia and Esi the two sisters living in Ghana were never ready for the change that was going to come in their life. They were living the life of a simple peasant when one of them gets kidnapped and is sold as a slave by the British. Later the other sister is married to a rich Englishman and her life becomes royal all of a sudden. One thing Effia remains unaware of was that her sister was being kept in the dungeons under her castle.
HOMEGOING
Life takes these two sisters on opposite paths, Esi is taken to the Gold Coast where she starts working as a slave, and then she gets married later on. After that, the listeners are told that almost three generations of Esi kept on working in the same place with no extra thoughts in their minds. Office on the other hand thrived and learned the ways to live in a rich culture which only knows how to dominate others.

Effia’s next generations finally wanted to know the true origin of their grandmother for which they decided to visit Ghana. Esi’s children also find their way to America, so it is about surviving and getting settled into a different land that does not look friendly at the first sight. Transcendent Kingdom will not interest the listener very much if they go through this book first because the impact of Dominic Hoffman’s voice can keep you attached to this book forever.
