Snow Globe takes place, for the most part, inside of a bar. The protagonist is not especially likable, though he’s clearly aware of his shortcomings, which makes us stick with him, despite his faults. Due to a tremendous snowstorm, he, and several others, are trapped in the bar and can’t leave. A disturbing, supernatural threat appears, and things go downhill from there.
The author does a great job of keeping the suspense tight, giving you just enough information about what’s going to happen to keep you flipping pages until it actually does. The atmosphere throughout was creepy, unsettling, and tense. However, there are moments of humor to keep it from getting too heavy, and some very human relationships (which don’t really end well for anyone.)
Some of the violence is pretty graphic, which may bother some, but none of it is gratuitous.

I generally dont review horror stories, sticking more to dark fantasy and even urban or paranormal fantasy. But this story appealed to me from reading the back cover copy. So, after becoming intrigued, I decided I would pick it up, load it on my kindle and take a read. I am glad I did.
Sohere goes: the cover is cool. In this case, you might just be able to judge a book by its cover. But, after reading this, you may just find yourself second-guessing your decision to stop by your favorite tavern, or to head out into a blizzard.
This story is character driven, and fun. The main character, Ben, is everyman. But, he isnt. He is filled with personality, a guy that you would like to be friends with. In fact, his nightmare starts when he decides to stop by and see a friend on his way home. Now, not sure if it was a cover for hammering back some cold beers or not, but he is definitely a committed friend, and husbandhe may be a lush, but he is committed. Maybe its a personality trait. Whatever the case, you will like him, and you will definitely root for him. The author is very good at building rapport between the main character and the reader.
The story is dark, and you will find yourself deep within it, hiding from what hides in the dark. It is overbearing and scary and filled with the unknown. The author leads you on an uncertain path, you will be jerked this way and that, wondering where the next surprise and twist comes from. It isnt full of cheap and bloody jump scares, but moreso good story and conflict building.
Dont read this at night. It is dark, and nerve-wracking and filled with all the good things we readers of dark fiction like. Please pick up the book and take a read.

Audiobook SnowGlobe by Aaron Gudmunson
For Ben Clary, an alcoholic who would rather hang out with his drinking buddies than go home, being stuck in a bar during a raging blizzard would normally be a dream come true. But not when the place is surrounded by cannibals resurrected from the grave that are waiting to sink their teeth in the next drunk that foolishly stumbles out into the snow. Soon the inhabitants of the bar are faced with the hard realities of starvation and certain impending death being cut off from the outside world. Even though the author’s main character seems hopelessly flawed, Ben Clary captures the reader’s heart. The book trailer of Snowglobe is well worth checking out.

Audio SnowGlobe narrated by Shawn Compton
I have read Aaron’s short stories and was beside myself with anticipation for this novel. It was well worth the wait. It took me only pages to care about these characters-that in itself speaks volumes to the care in which the author approached this story. The story is engrossing, brutal ( love that) and at times disturbing ( love even more). I highly recommend this book and everything else you can find from this author. You will be transported with his storytelling. P.s. I am reading it for the second time and I bought it right when it came out.

First, I’m not interested in gratuitous gore and drawn-out torturous scenes. When I finished reading, I felt silly worrying about encountering such in Snow Globe. Gudmunson plays with the reader psychologically while setting up great characters in a constantly moving and intriguing suspense story. You’ll be treated to detailed historical references throughout yet the story is set in modern times. I recommend it and I’m looking forward to reading more from this potentially up and coming author.
