Wonderland: A Year of Britain’s Wildlife, Day by Day audiobook free
Written by two accomplished field naturalists in a clear engaging way. It’s refreshing to learn about wildlife from nature writing these days instead of some of the navel gazing that seems to prevail. The calendar format is not new (see also Notes from Walnut Tree Farm by Roger Deakin and Field Notes From A Hidden City by Esther Woolfson to name two good examples) but works well providing snapshots of the natural world.
I disagree with other reviews citing the lack of illustrations. In my experience this doesn’t detract from the book. After all it’s easy enough to look up species online or in a field guide.

This book about UK nature is all text without any illustrative images.
I bought this to read with my 5 year old daughter and as such it was a total disappointment.
Not to say that this isn’t a good book for adult readers though.
One star because had the product description been clearer about the format of the book, I would not have bought it in the first place.

Audiobook Wonderland: A Year of Britain’s Wildlife, Day by Day by Brett Westwood Stephen Moss
What a wonderful book full of treats. I have do enjoyed reading this over the last few months. Best read a little at a time and it’s perfect for breakfast time when a little gratitude and sensitivity to our surroundings can really set you up perfectly for the day ahead.

Audio Wonderland: A Year of Britain’s Wildlife, Day by Day narrated by Brett Westwood Stephen Moss
I already have a copy, and bought this for a friend. Its a really sweet book, Though I have to confess I don’t always stay on the diary page for that day, sometimes I kind of sneak a look at the page for the next day, and the next, and the next…cant help it! It also makes you google the pictures of the things that they are talking about. Oh that’s what that is, I never realised what that was called, sort of reaction….and you can dip in and out of it at your leisure. I love the book its on my bedside side table.

A small section on an aspect of nature for each day of the year. Just enough to whet the appetite to find out more yourself about anything that catches your interest. I have been inspired by several short sections and have been finding out more about shield bugs, moths, house martins and the history of playing conkers. I have had to stop myself reading on further each day and have got out from the local library Stephen Moss’ “Wild Hares and Hummingbirds” as well as using iPlayer to catch up on past editions of Bret Westwood’s “Natural Histories”.
