Bought this book because it was an interesting subject. Couldn’t put it down . Got to the end and felted cheated! Sorry spoiler alert . Characters were great and well built up , but then at the end you just left me like “oh ok ! let’s move on “and then there was a character who was not talked about much brought in at the end in the follow up like you forgot to mention this but … I don’t know the two main people should had a better come together. Just didn’t wrap it up at the end for me

This is the 3rd book in the series set in the small Highland village of Kirrinfief. Two NHS nurses trade places for three months – one from the small Scottish village and one from London. Seemingly opposites but both caring about their patients, they communicate via email then texts but don\’t actually meet until the very end of the book. Jenny Colgan, you have to write another book in this series so we can know them even better! Love seeing village characters from the other two books in this series.

Audiobook 500 Miles from You by Jenny Colgan
Jenny Colgan is one of my favorite writers. Her Scotland stories are captivating and unique and 500 Miles from You is no different in that respect. As in her Cafe by the Sea novels, she moves from a love story into a larger scope, which allows the reader to learn much and examine the larger world. Here, exploring the trauma and wonder involved in nursing in rural Scotland and overpopulated urban London, she brings racism and gangs into the story and it\’s both eye-opening and alarming whilst reinforcing that the nurses\’ hearts are always with the people they treat. The characters are all interesting–you\’ll find her secondary characters well-developed and worthy of their own stories–and provide more introspection and global scope to the world the characters inhabit. I loved the way this story progressed and that the characters fell in love on a different plain, having never physically met, separated by distance, united by trauma, and slowly revealing themselves to each other through texts and e-mail. I\’m going to let a week pass and read this again. Write on, Jenny. Your loyal reader, Jo-Ann

Audio 500 Miles from You narrated by Eilidh Beaton
Jenny\’s books are escapist, but not in the formulaic romance, boring way. She writes about interesting people with actual problems who find joy and comfort in community, friendship and love. There is also always some humor in her books, they deal with relevant issues, but in a warm, comforting way. I can never put her books down and always look forward to the next one. She writes in a way that you can picture yourself in the place very easily– and want to go there to meet her wonderful characters. This book deals with heavier issues than previous ones, but in a way that brings out the best in many people.

I adore Jenny Colgan\’s books and this one was no exception. She writes beautifully and her books go beyond mere romance or \”chick lit\”. This book, like many of her others, had me pining for a country I had never even been to. Seriously, I\’m ready to move to Scotland! The characters were well-developed and I loved the story in this one following two nurses who switch appointments. It was wonderful watching these characters grow. Of course, there\’s also romance and I may or may not have cried a few times, but that\’s usually how it goes! The only issue is that I finished it too quickly. I just want to know what happens next!
