If you have read the first book in this series, you probably have an idea of what I mean by \”epic Patrick.\” He gets himself into way much danger and he doesn\’t play in the minor leagues when it comes to the bad guys. I feel for Jono and all that he has to deal with when it comes to Patrick and danger. This book is great. It gives Jono more time in the spotlight and we see how he and Patrick are working together and dealing with their connection. I liked getting his take on the local God Pack and how he handles a threat to the independent shifters in the city. Patrick still thinks before he acts, but his friends are slowly teaching him to think things through, ask for help, and to rely on them. This is huge for Patrick. With a everything that happens in this book, I\’m happy that he has his connections. I love how much honor both guys have and that they don\’t take promises lightly. I will be waiting impatiently for book 3. Read this series.

**Possible Spoilers** All Souls Near & Nigh is an excellent continuation of the Soulbound Series, and is filled with almost non-stop action. Even though the scope of the battles is not as big and overwhelming as in the first book, the intensity is just as strong and is wonderfully graphic. There are blood and gore, broken bodies and decapitations. Mmmmm, juicy stuff. The diversity of the different supernatural groups and characters keeps the reader engaged and the main characters and their immediate associates constantly on guard. The change in status among the core group gives secondary characters the opportunity to take a more active role in the action. The introduction of more Gods and Goddesses, unfamiliar to me but interesting nonetheless, keep the series fresh s as do the new secondary characters. Wade is particularly worthy of note. He is a quintessential teenager with the ability to bring down buildings. I hope to see more of him in subsequent books. Throw in some of the Gods and other characters that played no small part in the success of the guys in the first book, and you have an amalgamation of power that could create power struggles that can destroy cities. As they prepare and execute their strategies in what is more or less a supernatural turf war, Jono and Patrick, still at times tentative with each other, ultimately lean on each other to overcome these latest21 foes. Their connection is growing and is proving to be about more than just the soulbond. They can give and take as needed to function in their roles as law enforcement, God pack Alpha and soul bound mate. It\’s beautiful really, the way they accept each other. And when they connect physically, the passion is intense and life-affirming for them. Gods, monsters, men, and mayhem. There\’s something for everyone. And, there is a freaking gargoyle! I hope we can see more gargoyles. The author engages the readers imagination putting them right into the action. I have been looking forward to the release of All Souls Near & Nigh. I became invested in the lives of Patrick and Jono. The author, amid thenonstop action, made me care about these two and their supporters and I was cheering, groaning, laughing and crying right along with them. Im not familiar with a lot of the deities mentioned, I never was one for mythology, but the author uses them in a way that I don\’t have to rush to read some dusty tome to figure out who, what and why they are. All of the characters are interesting, well placed and believable. I look forward to book three.

Audiobook All Souls Near & Nigh (Soulbound #2) by Hailey Turner
I really enjoyed the first book, and thought that Jono and Patrick would be great for each other, but Patrick is just getting stupider as time goes on, versus thinking before he runs into dangerous situations head-on without a well thought out plan. I truly had to stop reading when Sage asked Patrick what his plan was got serving the search warrant at Tremaine\’s Night Couet, and he basically said, I have no plan, just keep your head down, and kiss your bum goodbye. Patrick has a mate now to protect, and he is going into a Master Vampire\’s Night Court, with no plan, with only Sage, a weretiger, and one of Lucien\’s vampires, and that is it? Seriously!! STUPID STUPID STUPID… I think Hailey Turner is a phenomenal writer, but she is making Patrick stupider as the story goes on, versus a war-hardened mage, why usually would plan things out. I could not even finish the 2nd novel because I was so completely frustrated and disgusted by how stupid Patrick had now become. Why write an MC as such an idiot? Giving out 2 Stars was being generous since I did not even get half way through without basically throwing my kindle against the wall. I am extremely sad as well, because I had already purchased all of the novels, so I have basically thrown away money on nothing, and Hailey Turner has given me zilch in return, except frustration and disbelief. I. AM. THOROUGHLY. SICKENED.

Audio All Souls Near & Nigh (Soulbound #2) narrated by Gary Furlong
Arhgggghhjjjuhhvvcc thats the noise my brain is making at how brilliant this book is. Righty, brain back sort of functioning so here we go. A bit more detail about why this book is so brilliant. As with Book One A Ferry of Bones & Gold Hailey takes well know mythological Pantheons (Greek, Roman, Norse) and mixes them up with the lesser known ones. In Ferry it was the folklore of West African, Egyptian and European cultures, here were in South America with the Aztec Gods Quetzalcoatl and Tepoztcatl, the Mexican/Catholic death cult Goddess/saint Nuestra Seora de la Santa Muerte as well as the Native American trickster God Coyote or Altse Hashke and it is this blending together of powerful beings into a seamless narrative which is the hallmark of this series. This plot is a complexly woven and intricately detailed navigation through an urban fantasy world which feels familiar to the reader but which has that otherworldly tinge to it. The after effects of the actions of Book One are still being felt at the opening of this one. Patrick and Jono have settled into a sort of routine which is just starting to feel like normal when everything starts to kick off. As with the first one, Im not giving away anything of the actual plot. These books deserve to be read blind and given the chance to work their clever magic on the readers. I will say all the usual suspects are on hand, we see Hermes, (who I always picture as a used car salesman in my head ) and the Tempest Pack, Lucien the Master Vampire, (who is still hating on Patrick for the death of his mother Ashanti) and his crew, and the rotten to the core New York God Pack alphas Estelle and Youssef, who I want to punch in the face every time theyre on page! Im not sure how many books Hailey is planning for this series but, for me, its shaping up to be just as epic as her Sci-Fi Metahumans one. More please!

Never met anyone else like you, Jono said against his lips. Dont want anyone else but you. You mean it? Always. Im not leaving you. Ugggh I love them SO MUCH. The second book in the series and I fell in love even more with this world and its characters. And there\’s a lot of characters and agendas and complexities. SO GOOD. This series is definitely getting more intense and even a little darker (take note of the warning at the beginning) and I think that\’s going to intensify as the series goes on. There\’s a power element running through these books and people greedy for that power, people who shouldn\’t have that power but are desperate to have it so it\’s natural that it gets intense/dark. It\’s done so well too. Hailey Turner is a wonderful writer. And then we have Wade. He is wonderful and surly. Hilarious and forever hungry. And who\’s definitely not a kid except for when adults are being the worst. I love him so freaking much and glad he found his way to his self made family even though the journey there was horrendous. I dont know why I have to go to this thing when I couldve stayed at the apartment to eat. Because youre pack, and pack sticks together, Jono replied. Pack should get better at leaving snacks around. Also, Hermes, I love him. A lot. So many great characters to love even when you probably shouldn\’t but it\’s ok because then there are the characters that you really will hate with no problem. I am hooked on this series, I\’m equal parts excited and anxious to see what\’s next, where and what Jono, Patrick and gang get themselves into next and I\’m looking forward to seeing the new dynamic of Patrick\’s old team. It\’s gonna be fun!
