I don\’t know what they were thinking using an awful British guy to reason Simon\’s story. Hello! Simon is not British! You can\’t understand half of what the guy says. The female narrator is just as bad. Doesn\’t she know how to do any voices besides a little girls? Jeez she doesn\’t even change tones from Clarey to Jace. I\’ve listed to tons of audiobooks but these narrators have to be two of the worse.

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) audiobook in series The Mortal Instruments
I was so excited for this book, but my excitement turned to disappointment when I heard the first narrator. Did anyone listen to this before it was released?? Obviously not. The voice the male narrator uses for Simon sounds sounds like a cross between a Brit with a sore throat and Marlon Brando in the Godfather. And the female sounds like a third grader giving an oral book report. If I were not so busy, I would have just given up on this production, bought the hard copy, and read this AWESOME book the old-fashioned way.

Audiobook City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) by Cassandra Clare
I\’m always sad when the narrator is changed mid series. You get used to the way the characters sound and know who is who. The switch here was doubling upsetting because the new narrators have no talent for audiobook narration. Ed sounds bored most of the time and Molly sounds like she is working so hard to enunciate each syllable. The worst part, however, was that Ed makes Jace sound like Sylvester Stallone in Rocky. It made me want to stop listening despite my love for the series. The book content was great – I\’m so glad Cassandra decided on doing another trilogy!

Audio City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments #4) narrated by Ed Westwick Molly C. Quinn
I don\’t know why the narrator was changed, but famous on the screen does not make them good at narrating. Ed\’s accent did not go with the character nor did he bring them to life. Molly used the same voice for every character and could not even pronounce most of the names in the store. I was really disappointed in the book mostly due to the narrators. I really hope the next book will go back to the prior narrator. If it\’s not broken don\’t mess with it.

After enjoying the first three narrations of these books, I was forced into Narrator Shock when I started listening to this one. Ed Westwick was dreadful! He mumbled a lot, and he speaks fast, which, when combined with the mumbling, forced me to back up the story to try to figure out what he was saying! Molly C Quinn on the other hand was rather monotone her entire reading (even during high action scenes!) Although she read at a normal pace, it felt very slow and drawn out when compared to Ed Westwick\’s. Another thing, Ed has an British accent and Molly is American!! For all those reasons, it was exhausting, going back and forth between narrators. All that said, I still loved the story. I enjoy this series quite a bit. I continued with the 5th book. Molly C Quinn narrates that one as well, and I think she does a much better job in that book than she does this one. However, I still prefer the narrator of books 2 and 3. I wish the recording company would have stuck with the SAME person for the entire series, it\’s tiring adjusting every single book. Anyway, great series, I really enjoy them! Give them a try!
