5+++ AMAZING AND HEART-STOPPING STARS!! The Metahuman Files series is hands down one of my favorites of 2017. It is unique, suspenseful, heart stopping (and sometimes heartbreaking), and so addicting! It is also sexy, sweet, and hilarious at times. I adore the entire team, especially our token couples from prior books – Jamie and Kyle, and Alexei and Sean. I knew going into this particular installment that it was going to be a hard one to read, and man, was it ever. In The Blood has everything I have come to love about this series in spades, but this is by far the toughest one yet. There were times reading this book that I yelled out loud, times I was bawling my eyes out, times I cringed and had to look away for a minute to process what was happening to characters I love as though they were real-life friends of mine… but there were also times I shed some tears of happiness, times I laughed, and times I felt like my heart was growing too big for my chest (especially that ending! YAY!).. This book advances the series arc to a critical point, and I am at once REALLY FREAKING EXCITED and REALLY FREAKING SCARED for the next and final book in this incredible series. I was so proud of Jamie and Kyle in this book, and so unbelievably heartbroken and horrified for Alexei and Sean. It is going to take some time and a whole lot of love for these amazing characters to heal (mentally) from the events of this installment. Oh, and GO KYLE! You will have to read it to know why! Like with the previous books, Hailey Turner\’s writing is concise, exciting, and flows beautifully. The editing and proofing is on point, the storyline balanced and intense, and the emotion is palpable throughout. Alpha Team has become so familiar to me, I don\’t know what I am going to do with myself when this series ends. I have already read each book several times, and this one twice (even though this one hurts more than the others!). If you have not started this series yet, you do not know what you are missing. It will captivate you like it has so many of us already. This is a direct sequel of prior books and should NOT be read as a standalone. But…why would you want to anyway? Start at the beginning and fall in love with these characters like I have… You won\’t be sorry!

In the Blood (Metahuman Files #4) audiobook in series The Metahuman Files
Hailey Turner has done it again! In the Blood is a brilliant addition to the Metahuman Files, and I am already ready for #5. Wow. There are so many things going on that I should have gotten lost in the details but no. The author\’s words are composed so well that I followed along like I was there with them. She stays true to each characters\’ unique personality and circumstance. We get to see how couples from the previous books are progressing in their relationships and the ups and downs of trying to maintain those relationships while in the midst of the danger-laden profession they embrace. The storyline is ongoing, beginning in the first book, In the Wreckage. The author picks up on threads left in previous books and weaves them into subsequent books of the series. She does not waste the readers time with overly descriptive information from prior books, but trusts in the reader\’s intelligence to understand where each plotline came from and where it\’s going. She then lays down new threads for the reader to follow and wonder about throughout the reading. I have enjoyed stretching my boundaries in this series and this book in particular. Yes, there are cringe-worthy moments: moments that made me hide my eyes, moments that made me cross my legs and moments that made me cry. These are written so well that you are in the middle of the scene, immersed in that world before you know it and before you can prepare yourself for it. Oh, and a nod to the romance aspect: the couples interact beautifully together. You can feel their emotional connection and the strength of their ever-present passion. The spicy scenes are very, very well done. I had only read a few science fiction books before reading these, but with these, I have been converted into a fan of the genre. I look forward to book five.

Audiobook In the Blood (Metahuman Files #4) by Hailey Turner
Jamies fathers run for President is heating up, and hes had to give in to family pressure while fending off a deadly enemy trying to use his family for the enemys own purposes. Kyle has stay a secret for many reasons, while Jamie goes off on public dates with the Presidents son. Its an emotionally fraught time, especially with two members of the team kidnapped by a vengeful, crazy and deadly enemy of Seans, whos willing to very nasty things to both Sean and Alexei. Plenty of tension, some scenes that might make a sensitive reader gasp – yes, Turner goes there with torture – and there are consequences for the mega city of Boston and its people. (Go Boston!) Do not miss this series!

Audio In the Blood (Metahuman Files #4) narrated by Greg Boudreaux
Holy moly!! Hailey packs soooo much into her stories that you barely get the chance to breath! Once again we are taken into the world of the Metahumans in all it\’s intricacies. The situations feel real and have your heart pounding as the team is once again put through its paces. You are truly left wondering who will survive. Told from multiple viewpoints – Jamie, Kyle, Alexei and Sean – it never gets confusing and definitely adds to the story\’s depth. This series is a MUST READ!! Can\’t wait for book 5

This is absolutely not the type of book I would normally pick but once I started reading it I couldn\’t put it down. The story line was fantastic, characters so intense and interesting that I needed too know what was going to happen next and then the sexual tension and separate love stories were so well written I can\’t wait for the next book in the series.
