Audiobook Captured and Kept by Piper Stone
Odd how a book may be very well written, have an excellent overall tense & suspenseful plot, engaging heroes & an absolutely loathsome heroine (IMO). I do feel this book was very well written, I very much liked the overall plot device regarding the mystery of who the *cavemen* were, where they came from & went back to & just what they were doing. I liked the 4 main male characters, Danger, Wolf, Bronco & Cane, & I liked how the author brought out their different personalities throughout the story. I liked their interactions (both sexual & not) with Dani (heroine) & each other. Loathed & could NOT stand Dani, AT ALL. I do not understand why a heroine is built up to be intelligent, brave, intrepid, resourceful & well able to handle herself & then nearly every action or situation she flings herself into disproves every one of those traits. I really don\’t. I realize this is fiction & fantasy but seriously, if a heroine HAS all these traits, can way(s) not be found to place her in situations not caused by HER stupidity, lack of thought/planning, recklessness, emotionalism &/or lack of control. Which (again IMO) Dani appears to be the Queen of No Control & Recklessness, as well as numerous other character flaws. And all these flaws are explained & excused because she\’s a *journalist*. She\’s a liar: virtually everything she tells the 4 men is a lie either literally or by omission. She lies to herself: tells herself not to do something because it isn\’t the right thing to do & then almost immediately does it after concocting a new reason why it IS alright to do after all. I question her common sense & survival skills (literally & life): NO ONE knows anything about these 4 huge powerful men & she goes after them, ALONE, in a old vehicle that apparently doesn\’t have a working fuel gauge, knowing that when she\’s up in the mountains her phone won\’t work, claims to her boss (& the readers) her ex-military father trained her in survival skills & yet forgets half the proactive supplies/tools she takes with her when she needs them & her over riding thoughts & concerns are about the HOT ROUGH sex she expects to have with all 4 men she doesn\’t know (I realize this is the fantasy part). She makes NO attempt to control what comes out of her mouth, her emotions or her thoughts. One second she realizes how foolish she was & the very next all she thinks about is how hot the men are. She does NOT act submissive: she loves rough sex, sex with multiple partners, likes a fair amount of pain during sex, but nothing I read indicated she was submissive. Her submission was never from within HER, she always wanted the men to consensually *make* her submit. Maybe she\’s constantly being a bratty submissive? She\’s a hypocrite: she\’s allowed to do whatever SHE decides to do in order to obtain information about the men, who they are & what they are doing (after tracking THEM down for 2 days), but when they go through HER things & research HER background & identity, well that\’s just not right. I was going to stop reading at about the 50% mark because Dani\’s character was so loathsome (again, to ME) but I continued on to about the 85% mark & couldn\’t read further. The ONE thing ALL 4 men told her continually NOT to do to keep HER life & THEIR lives safe, well, of course she does. Then, it\’s a SHOCK to her that this attracts the attention of the wrong person. So, I don\’t know how it ended. I know I\’ve gone on about Dani, but it was very frustrating for me to be reading an excellent story which was ruined (for me) by the heroine. There was quite a bit of very hot, very intense one on one & multiple partner sex which was very well written (although I am not too sure how sexy having sex in 60 degree water would be?) & sizzling. All in all, if Dani\’s character had not irritated me so much, I would have loved everything about this book. It had mystery, suspense, tension & sizzling sex, as well as 4 incredible huge handsome muscular heroes. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Audio Captured and Kept narrated by Ken Solin
Umm excuse me I\’m still trying to figure this out the ending left me more then confused. The story line was pretty good but when she started getting deeper into all that government conspiracy theory bull I got so lost! Next thing I know Cane one of the mountain men tries to kill her?! Then everything comes to the light every one lives happily ever after on their mountain….so umm not the best story ever there were several errors through out the book. I enjoyed the time she spent with the guys at the cabin but she lost me after they went their separate ways. So I\’m sorry I couldn\’t recommend this to anyone it just wasn\’t that good.

Our heroine, a reporter, goes looking for four mysterious men in the remote woods. Can you guess where this is going? This is an erotic reverse harem story featuring four rough men and elements of D/S and spankings. From a steamy standpoint, the story delivers in spades. You just have to ignore everything that our heroine says or does. The problem is that our heroine is described as smart and resourceful, but she acts empty headed and dumb. She doesn\’t plan, she doesn\’t follow her instincts, and she doesn\’t listen. So we have a plot driven by stupidity. There are other ways to put out heroine in the same situation which don\’t require her to be stupid to achieve, so I can only assume this is lazy writing. Which is a pity, because the plot had potential The story itself is well written, but I can\’t stand characters that are constantly doing the wrong thing even when they know better. Not my cup of tea. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes.
