I guess this is one of this author earlier books. While she still manage to create characters that are appealing, the sex scenes got to be the center of the story. To the point you just have to skip. Too much of anything end up being not that good. Also there were silly mistakes like the location of a c section scar.
That said her recent books are great and theres more balance to her stories not just 80 percent sex scenes. 🙂 I will still recommend the author!

“Forty-nine months and three days.” That’s how long it’s been since Vaughn last saw River. But who’s counting? Well, Vaughn is. He left, joining the military, thinking it was better for her that way, but it wasn’t until now, thanks to River’s brother, Sarge, that Vaughn learned he left the love of his life alone and pregnant.
River was left broken hearted when Vaughn walked out of her life, but she did what she needed to do you get by for her daughter, Marcy. If that means exhaustion working two jobs, then so be it. Everything she does is for Marcy and to River, that’s all that matters. Until Vaughn walks back into her life “forty-nine months and three days” later. Yeah, River counted too.
“Okay, so maybe River wasn’t thinking with her upstairs lady brain.” – River
It isn’t hard to see that their chemistry is still as hot as an inferno and their feelings, though River feels she needs to protect herself this time, are still that once in a lifetime kind of love. But can River trust that he won’t leave again, breaking her once for all? Or will he stay, determined to have everything…his woman, their daughter, his family?
“You never stopped being mine. I need you…mine. River.” – Vaughn
Secrets are being revealed about why Vaughn really left, about their last time together, secrets that will change everything they thought they knew. Can Vaughn prove that he’s never leaving her, them, again? Will River give their love a second chance at happiness? Or will the same judgmental influence try and come between them again? Is Vaughn quite possibly one of the best dirty talking men (and oh man, does that say a lot) Tessa has ever written? *nods head vigorously* When you add in the fact that he’s been gone for River since the day they first locked eyes when she was sixteen? Swoon…permanent book boyfriend material.
“They would get better together. All three of them. Father, mother, and daughter. Because apart? They were loose ends that were meant to be tied.” – River
“I’ve loved you up one side of forever. Now I’m going to love you back down the other.” – Vaughn
One-click now and read about how it all began for Vaughn and River and take the journey with them as they’re reunited with the missing piece of their heart. I do recommend you read the previous books in this series as those characters are referred to in this book as well as Duke, a future character that I cannot wait to learn more about. Please let him watch SportsCenter in peace. LOL The first book is Crashed Out featuring Sarge, River’s brother, and Jasmine, River’s best friend, and book 1.5 is Rough Rhythm featuring James, the manager of Old News, Sarge’s group, and Lita, the drummer for Old News. Honestly, I just say you read every book this woman has ever written because they are all fantastic. She is one of my favorites and I eagerly devour anything with her name on it. This book, this series, has already joined my go-to-reread list. I have a lot of her books on there actually. I’m sensing a pattern. 😉

Audiobook Thrown Down (Made in Jersey #2) by Tessa Bailey

Wow. I didnt think anything could top Sarge in Crashed Out or Austin in Boiling Point and then I met Vaughn De Matteo and had my entire outlook completely and irrevocably rearranged.
Vaughn is an epic alpha male, and the absolute best kind of romance hero. Because he loves with everything he has, and everything he is, and he does it so deeply, so intensely, that he can change your entire world view in a blink. All because of who he is and how deeply he loves.
When Vaughn left River four years ago, he thought hed done the right thing, for the right reasons. Yet thanks to Rivers brother, he found out differently. And while his being back in Hook isnt easy, theres no way in hell hes leaving town again. She needs him to be a man she can count on, and Vaughn will move Heaven and earth to make sure he is exactly that.
This story was breathtakingly amazing. Hot as hell, of course, but also emotionally honest, the kind of honest that drips with authenticity and a naturalness that makes you wonder how many times youve passed a woman like River and a man like Vaughn on the street. How many times have you shared drinks with them but not quite understood who they were at heart. Who they were at their core.
I loved these characters something fierce. They were real because they were honest, their emotions so natural and their experiences so believable and compelling. I absolutely fell in love with both River and Vaughn and I read their story in one sitting because I could not, for the life of me, stop once I started.
Thrown Down is the perfect example of why I love reading Tessa Baileys work. Each and every one of her stories are unique to the characters, and the characters are so utterly real, so emotionally honest, they will break me apart in a million different ways before putting me back together again with a whole new insight into people, and into love.
If you love scorching hot reunion romances with emotional depth and unforgettable characters, pick up a copy of Thrown Down. Its part of the Made in Jersey series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone, too, and believe me, its more than worth a read.
