First let me say, Nalini Singh is an excellent writer. Her stories generally flow well, she\’s very descriptive, and for the most part her stories are well rounded. I preferred this book to the last book (Bowen\’s story). However, the new characters as presented in the Trinity books don\’t seem to have the same pizzazz as the \”original\” SnowDancers wolves, DarkRiver Leopards, or even the Arrow Squad. They do not grab me. I am also a little unhappy with the pace of resolving the issues in the Net. It\’s like we only get small tidbits of information about healing the Net in each book and that pace is becoming too slow for me! Also, as great as it is to see a SnowDancer wolf get together with a \”Dark\” E, I thought the real problem in the Net was because there were no humans. There are still only three human/Psy couples. Now I am sure that the Changling energy in the Net because of Silver\’s mate and Memory\’s mate \”helps\” the Net, but honestly, don\’t they need more humans? Out of the entire series, we only have 1 full length and one short story about a human/Psy couple in the PsyNet. That is way out of balance, especially if the whole reason the Net is about to collapse is because there has been no humans for 100 years. Since the first discovery by Kaleb, Ivy, Sascha, and Sahara that the Net needed humans in Allegiance of Honor it has been at least 9 months since then. There should be some human/Psy interaction going on. Whatever happened with the restaurant Kaleb/Sahara opened in an effort to bring humans and Psy together? Surely, there has been some interaction in 9 months. I feel this story arc really needs to start focusing on humans/Psy couples. If she wants to keep with the original SnowDancer and DarkRiver characters, bring in some of the humans in those packs and let them start having interactions with Psy. Have Sam from SnowDancer hook up with an E or if you want to be bold, have Sam hook up with a female Arrow! Those are my two cents.

Wolf Rain (Psy-Changeling Trinity #3) audiobook in series The Psy-Changeling Trinity Series

In this brave new world that has been evolving since Silence fell, Humans, Psy, and Changelings have come to new accords. The PsyNet remains in great danger of failing and causing a catastrophic loss of life, perhaps the essential end of an entire race. The empaths known as Es have only recently been allowed to use innate talents to shore up the deteriorating universe of the mind that is the Net for all Psy. They are still learning how to use nascent abilities. Empaths are usually known as healers and protectors, but Memory Aven-Roses gift seems very different. After she is rescued from a very long captivity by Alexi Sexy Lexie Vasiliev Harte while he is on patrol in the Snow Dancer territory, her unusual and previously enslaved empathic abilities look to be a possible game changer for the fracturing PsyNet. Memorys new found freedom comes with many challenges and costs to her personally since she has been mentally and literally chained for so long. As she struggles to learn to function freely in the world and with other empaths, Alexei, who is a snarly protective wolf dealing with some devastating issues of his own, takes her for a wild Changeling ride. Alexei is one of Hawkes strongest, most loyal lieutenants with a big heart that bears the brunt of a tragic problem with his heritage. One of the worst anathemas in the Changeling world has stained his beloved family causing Alexei considerable grief and pain. Memory is determined to shake that growly golden wolf right out of his dark emotional pit no matter how actively he resists. Once she is truly free, Memory realizes that choosing a known hell over unknown heaven is not acceptable for herself or that stubborn wolf. Those who are working to save the PsyNet including the uber Cardinal and de facto ruler, Kaleb Krychek, desperately need more help. They are running out of answers so a critical breach is becoming a reality. Memorys abilities may offer some hope if she can learn to utilize them and not just see herself as a wreathed in darkness. Other more lethal Psy are waking up to powers that had been suppressed. These powers might prove to be another major hit to Psy survival. And while Memory is learning to live fully in the world for the first time, she is being stalked on two fronts by dangerous enemies. This precarious new world order rests on the edge of a knife, but many in the coalition, some former enemies, work together trying to save it. With access to the PsyNet opened to her for the first time and a growing connection to Alexei despite his resistance, Memory has the opportunity to turn something dark into light and to find love in the most unexpected of places. Harte is an apt name for Alexei because he has a lot of it and would do anything, make any sacrifice to protect Memory, especially from himself. Memory may be a small, not very physically strong Psy, but she is mighty enough to tangle with a man who is all wolf with a heart as big as the Sierras. Book three in the Psy-Changeling Trinity series, so much has changed for all the races since the fall of Silence some of it good, some bad, and with more changes on the horizon that may put this vastly different landscape under even more pressure. Ms. Singh\’s finely crafted heartfelt story will please fans drawing out some very deep emotions demonstrating how love shines a light in the dark, casting out evil and filling up the broken and damaged places in the heart and mind.

Audiobook Wolf Rain (Psy-Changeling Trinity #3) by Nalini Singh

Excellent. Just Excellent. Nalini Singh never disappoints. This is an amazing joyful action packed romance. The world building is off the hook which is stunning this deep into a series. I am so excited each time a new book comes out. I read it right away. I love this universe and I love these characters. In Wolf Rain, we get Alexie and Memory. We get a wolf dealing with genetics that may make it impossible to have a mate and Memory is finding her own strength and her talent. Watching them falling in like and love is a delight. Sexy too. So sexy. There is such heat and connection between them. The world expands here too with Memory Psy gifts. We get a wonderful plot that is perfect balance with the love story. I also want to call out an amazing moment in the book of friendship and womanhood and representation. Singh\’s books have been a shining light for decades for diversity in characters. Diversity of all kinds. Memory is of African decent. Many of Singh\’s characters have multi racial backgrounds. One of the ways Memory\’s captor controls her is by forcing her to straighten her hair. Memory resist his control over her body. When she get free, her hair is a snarl. She wants it natural. Another heroine helps her get those curls on point. This reminds me of the hours I spent growing up chatting with my friends while her mom put her braids in. The perfection of this moment to be so seen and to know the value of saying how we look is everything. So, thank you Nalini Singh for masterful journey with surprises and delights of every kind.

Audio Wolf Rain (Psy-Changeling Trinity #3) narrated by Angela Dawe

I enjoyed how Alexei and Memory interacted, and the way in which Alexi was able to have fire surging in Memorys eyes and blood. I liked both the main characters, as individuals and as a couple. That being said when it came to Memory and all she had endured/suffered I did feel that the depiction of her behaviour/reactions, after she was liberated from her cage, signified her being a tad too well adjusted. There was just something about the ease in which she adjusted to everything that left me slightly unsatisfied, it left me feeling like a key dimension of the story/character had been forgotten. I enjoyed the glimpses we got of characters from past books like Lucas, Sascha, their little girl, and Hawke, and cant wait for books which have some of the kids taking centre stage. Overall this was a nice read, but I dont know it didnt ensnare my attention and leave me sighing in pleasure once I finished. Dont get me wrong I devoured this read, and enjoyed it, yet I can honestly say whilst I may re-read this book, its defo not in my top 5 from the Psy-Changeling/Psy-Changeling Trinity books. Yet still a good read. Ugh! Am I seesawing a bit with my thoughts? Re-read will be needed at some point.

The Psy/Changeling series is intriguing and fascinating. The author\’s sense of humour always brings a smile to my face. Wolf Rain runs at a steady pace and the characters are lovable. The Psy Net continues to crumble with some devastating effects and the future prospects are looking rather gloomy. Lexi is one of Snowdancers Lieutenant. He is a grumpy, but fun wolf. He has a fierce sense of protectiveness towards those deserving of his kindness. However, do not get on his wrong side as he isn\’t shy to show his claws and bites! Memory is just that. A memory until Lexi frees her from captivity. Despite everything that she has been through, she remains strong and is very loving even though she doubts her own abilities. Lexi is disgusted when he discovers Memory and takes her under his protection. At this stage, she could be a decoy, but that doesn\’t stop him from helping her. Once he discovers who she is, he is set on finding the one who wronged and abused her for so long. However, her captor is quite evasive and is hell bent on getting back what he thinks is his. As Lexi and Memory get to the know each other, a bond forms between them, but he is convinced that he is cursed. Getting too close to him could prove to be detrimental. Can they find a solution to this problem? Lexi and Memory fit well together. Their interactions are somewhat interesting. I like Lexi\’s strength and loyalty as well as Memory\’s strength and determination. The way she adapts to her new life is admirable. The highlight is being back in Snowdancer\’s territory and revisiting some of my favourite characters who all have valuable roles in this solid and out of this world concept. Loved it and looking forward to more to come.
