I love all of Christy Barritt’s books, but especially when it’s a series and I can read one right after another. That’s what happened with this series of 3 books. Absolutely could not put it down and read right through all three. Joey Darling plays a private detective on a TV series that was cancelled, her marriage ended, her finances are a disaster, and she doesn’t know where her father is. She moves to the Outer Banks of North Carolina hoping to find her father and to take a break from the hectic life of Hollywood. She resumes her previous career as a hairdresser, working in her Aunt Dizzy’s hair salon. She is easily recognized for her star status and somehow is also mistaken for a real private investigator and is approached to help find some missing people. Within the three books, she makes some new friends, her neighbor Zane, Phoebe who works in the smoothie shop and has developed a somewhat challenging friendship with the local police detective, Jackson, mainly because she gets mixed up in several police investigations. Despite her interference, she ends up helping the police solve several crimes. There are some tense moments, some funny situations, and along the way you will be cheering Joey on, all the way until the last page is turned.

I really enjoyed this 3 book set! The books are not really stand-alone so I’m glad they were in a set. The plots are great, it is well written and very entertaining. I didn’t want to put the books down. I did feel “left hanging” at the end of the 3rd book since the one mystery that ran through all 3 books was still unsolved. I guess that’s incentive to buy more books though. All said, I recommend this 3 book set.

Love these books. Barritt creates quirky characters with surprising depth. Her books are entertaining and easy to read yet with realistic character development and insight. I have not read one I didn’t thoroughly enjoy.

Joey Darlings also known as Raven. She is trying to hide her being that person for five years. Now she gets involved and into investigating murders, and wanting to know what to do next. She would ponder what Raven would do. Full of mayhem mischief and murder, with Zane. More wordy than the authors other books, so didnt get into the plot of the murder, This was more of there adventure into trying to figure out how to investigate.

Im really enjoying this series. The characters are a lot of fun. It does keep you wanting to read the rest of the series though (Im on book 5 and still enjoying it).
