Touch of the Mage audiobook free
I really enjoyed this new series from D.D. Chance. I have followed this particular author through several of her series, and have always enjoyed the stories that she brings to life.
In this story, we have a heroine who has been exposed to magic but believes she has none. She has always seen paranormal things, and even though she can’t explain it she has always had an explosive temper!
Maddigan is trying to find her place – she finally has a well-paying albeit menial job, she’s saving all her pennies to get her application to a prestigious college accepted, and she’s finally beginning to have some fun. What could possibly go wrong?
Ms Chance has crafted some wonderful characters, and is having fun with the reverse harem theme – even if Maddigan doesn’t know what is in store for her yet! This is a light hearted read with heat, so be aware that there is some saucy scenes ahead.

I was drawn into each of the characters immediately as I was introduced into the world of Twyst Academy. The Mage Trials our five mages are fighting to win has gone badly awry, is fraught with danger, mystery and threatens not only the academy but the real world in ways that were not believed possible. Much is at stake.
Maddigan Pierce, a janitor at the academy is discovered by one of the team of five male mage students to be a (rare) war mage with no awareness of her true identity or power. Each student attending the academy has specific magical talents that are in the process of developing into their true power. DD Chance has a true knack for creating a world of intrigue, mystery as well as layers to each character to whom we become attached. The characters grow as individuals, as well as, discovering their mage power right before our eyes. I cant wait for the second installment in this series.

Audiobook Touch of the Mage by D.D. Chance
Wow, THIS is what Paranormal Academy writing should be. The MC acts like a woman in college not like a teenager. Chance has set up an interesting world and I am a little sad this will only be a 4 book series- but I guess you can’t stay in college forever. 🙂 This was a steamy read with great adventure and a perfect amount of humor. I can’t wait for more; glad these are releasing in back to back months!

After the lengthy intensely descriptive group (and grope) sex scenes there was little time left for story development.
And speaking of ‘storyline’. The paranormal school that admits a young female of unknown origins that has hidden abilities beyond anything ever known in this century. She is threatened and attacked by the ‘cheerleader’ squad….Ultra rich parents, ultra clickish blah! Blah! Cookie cutter plot, cookie cutter characters.

I enjoyed the story and I will read the next book but this one did have problems. At times things seemed to move way to fast or be passed over. The female MCs relationship with Conner developed way to fast for me. There was little to know getting to know you. I am all for fated mates and what not but I still like fated mates to work on a relationship before falling in love instantly. I also didnt love that she dismissed all of her frustrations and anger towards the other guys when they did something that bothered her (mostly Rafe) simply because she had a physical reaction to them. I dont like for physical reactions to override emotional feelings. If someone is rude or mistreats them I want them to stay angry until the person apologizes. Having them just brush it off Bc they are physically drawn to the person diminishes the hurt caused and makes it seem like the person who was hurt isnt allowed to be hurt.
I plan to read book two, the story line was interesting if the pace were a little smoother. Also the sex scene seemed rushed. I was excited for some smutt and the two times we got it it seemed to happen very quickly then was suddenly over. For people with an instant physical connection I was hoping for a spicier sex scene. But thats just a personal opinion.
