Alien Zookeeper’s Abduction (Alien Abduction #1) audiobook free
I received this book as an ARC, without obligation. I chose to write a review and the opinions are my own. This is one of the most unusual alien abduction stories that I\’ve ever read. Zara Zenia and Juno Wells put together a story that I found intriguing and perhaps almost realistic. Our heroine, Juliet Wilder or Jewel tends bar at a local saloon down the mountain from her small cabin. Her life is simple and she has few if any luxuries. At one time she enlisted in the local army base, but her superior kept taking sexual liberties with her. One day a new beautiful girl arrives on base and Jewel sees the look in her superior\’s eye and knows that he is going to go after her as he did Jewel. She attacks him, not out of jealousy, but rather to fight back finally for all of his abuse of her person. So, now she tends bar at a local pub near the army base. On that particular night it was raining hard and for hours. The owner told her to spend the night and not risk driving up to her cabin, but Jewel is stubborn and gets in her pickup and starts to drive home. The storm gets worse and the rain is so heavy she has almost no visibility. Then her truck gets stuck. She figures she can get it out of this rut, but there is bound to be more up ahead, so she decides to walk the rest of the way home. Suddenly, a super intense light appears in the sky and seems to be heading directly towards her. She feels herself being lifted from the ground and blacks out. She awaken on a grassy meadow with blue sky overhead and a warm breeze. It\’s too warm for this time of year. Other things are not quite right, like the sky is too close and there are no bees or other insects. As she walks around she discovers that she is in some sort of elaborate holo-suite designed to mimic idealized Earth. A bell rings twice and a bowl of fruit appears. She climbs a tree and using a branch tries to pry open the door she found. She is greeted by a nine-foot blue alien with stripes on his skin and tendrils for hair. He drugs her to knock her out again. Next she tries to show him that she is sentient by doing simple math. That seems to work as he suddenly says that he made a terrible mistake with her. But wait, he has transmitted to his home that he appears to have found a sentient being. They are very excited and take a fast ship to meet her and \’test\’ her. She becomes frustrated and throws one heck of a tantrum. They now think her species is dangerous and barbaric and must be eliminated. Such a good story filled with multiple betrayals. We almost get a HEA at the end, but not quite. Jewel has not really forgiven him. Perhaps book 2 will take us further into this story as we explore the next one in this new series. A most unusual plot and ending. 5 golden stars from me!

What do you do when your life can\’t get any worse? You get abducted for an alien zoo! Jewel wakes up in a grassy field. Only it doesn\’t feel right. It doesn\’t take her long to realize it\’s a sophisticated cage. Food appears magically to distract her from trying to escape. But she\’s stubborn. She feels around the walls until she finds a door of some kind. She finally managed to pry it open and runs into an alien! She runs back to the cage and the door gets covered up. She tries the ceiling after that. An access panel lets her into a crawl space. When she managed to get out again, the same alien catches her again. Talking doesn\’t work, so she bites him. He sedates her. When she finds herself back in her \”habitat\”, she goes to a wall that looks in to her space and starts counting and marking numbers. That\’s just the beginning of her struggle to make herself appear sentient to her keeper. Most will empathize with her struggle, trying to make her keeper see her as an intelligent reasoning person instead of an animal. Alien prejudices and an old enemy make her wonder if anything she\’s been told was true. Her keeper gets a promotion if he manages to convince the Council she\’s sentient. His enemy sees her as a means to an end, a way to profit from starting a galactic war. Will Kay realize what\’s important before it\’s too late?

An interesting story about first contact, in around about way. Kay and Jewel are really interesting characters. Full of passion and just enough drama to make a good story.

Great story line with a tough sassy female who is taken by mistake and her life is about to become turned upside down. This is one grand adventure you don\’t want to miss reading.

If you enjoy alien romance where the alien hero doesn\’t look or act human then this is a good book for you. The characters are interesting and the world building is good.
