YES! Another purr-fect romance from Lauren Blakely! This sweet and sexy and standalone rom-com is all that and a huge bag of catnip. Get this book and see why Mia, Patrick, and a cat named Zeus will steal your heart. Hard Wood is told through Patrick’s point of view. Having read Lauren’s other books, I knew this book was going to be solid. I thought it was brilliant how she was able to use Zeus’ voice to tell his kitty cat side of the story as well as Mia’s. This book is just so much fun, drama-free and such as fast and lovable read. Patrick’s wood is good 😉

Hard Wood by Lauren Blakely This book and series deserve all the stars! This book was everything I’ve come and know and expect from the lovely Lauren Blakely AND MORE. Patrick and Mia have been circling around each other for a while now and finally it’s their turn to find their HEA. Why have they waited so long? Well, distance was the biggest issue as one lives in New York and one lives in San Francisco. Further to that, while distance was certainly a factor for them, there was also the minor detail of Patrick being Mia’s brothers best friend. You may remember one of my (ahem, many) boyfriends, Max? Yeah, him. As Chase and Max’s sister, we’ve gotten to know bits of Mia: she’s loyal, fun, a pocket-rocket! She’s gorgeous and Patrick sees it! Patrick is our successful, cat-loving outdoorsman who is, in his own words, a unicorn. And no, he’s not just talking about the length of his horn (suuuuuuure, he’s not). No really, he’s ready to settle down. He wants to be with The One. And that one is Mia. Oh God. This book. So sweet, so lovely, such a gorgeous progression of friendship. I love that the romantic relationship between Patrick and Mia was built on a solid friendship with all the respect and love thrown in aaaaall the way through to the end. Hard Wood is the final book in the Big Rock series – all of which can be read as standalones. So being the last book, reading it was kind of bittersweet for me. The characters in these books have become like friends – no, family! – to me and to say goodbye to them leaves me feeling more than a little sad. All the characters we’ve come to know and love throughout the series make an appearance in Hard Wood and Blakely comes a full-circle, tying up all loose ends and finishing off a series beautifully. **Reviewed by Melinda for Joandisalovebooks Blog.

Audiobook Hard Wood (Big Rock #6) by Lauren Blakely
My all-time favorite romance! But to be honest, Patrick isn’t my favorite name. Besides that, I loved absolutely everything in this book!! I love the title and how it related to the book. I loved Patrick’s company and how much he loved his hobby and love for the outdoors and turned it into a successful business. I love how he much he cared about Mia but didn’t puruse anything with her because he didn’t want her to move her company across the country so they could have a relationship. He is so selfless and I love that amazing quality! I love his cat Zeus and the little chapters that were in his POV and how he would interact with Patrick and Mia. I love that the entire book was in his POV apart from Zeus’ little chapters. I loved how he took Mia out at the beginning to help her relax and how he was willing to have her just as a friend so long that she remained in his life no matter how much he wanted to be in a romantic relationship with her. I’ve really been enjoying Ms. Blakely’s books lately and I didn’t really expect a whole lot from this. I had read the first chapter that was included at the end of Most Valuable Playboy and was intrigued but never thought much about it until the release date was closer. I put off reading it for a few days but then I gave in and read it in just a little over a day whenever I could. I had also recently joined Audible so I of course had to buy the audiobook after listening to the sample that was just so good!! I love that I wasn’t thinking this would be that amazing of a book but it somehow turned into my favorite romance and I absolutely love it!! I definitely want to anticipate each of the author’s books that come out because I know how reliable of a writer she is and I will read them but after reading this, it makes me want to put them at the back of my mind so I will hopefully enjoy them as much as I did with this one!! In conclusion, I loved all the stuff in this book. It was truly magical and cannot wait to listen to the audiobook and also read this many times again and again. I am also very tempted to buy the paperback version because I am trash for this book but we shall see!

Audio Hard Wood (Big Rock #6) narrated by Sebastian York
I listened on Audible and was giggling from the get-go to Sebastian York’s perfectly timed delivery of Lauren’s latest rom-com funny moments. Patrick is all man, and a furry feline sidekick in Zeus. To say that Zeus is my cherry and icing on the cake is an understatement. Lauren gives good cat! That is all I am saying. I was in stitches. Having known Mia from other books, I am delighted she has her own story and ended up on the trail of Patrick. He is fit, handsome and a genuinely great guy (swoon). Although not a fan of hiking and the woods myself, I can see the attraction of getting up close and personal in a tent with this man to keep me safe and HOT! Pass me my boots, I am booking a trip. With some old favourites from the past popping in, it is romance, friends and just what I want to relax and enjoy some fun, flirting and forking of marshmallows over a camp fire. Get ready to go all soft inside for the hard wood.

No it’s not a love triangle….This is a gorgeous romance about an extraordinarily handsome rugged outdoor trail guide called Patrick, a sweet , sassy girl named Mia and an utterly adorable cat named Zeus. Patrick and Mia have had the hots for each other for a while but neither has done anything because Mia is Patrick’s friend/neighbour’s little sister. Eventually temptation proves too much and these two finally explore their very HOT chemistry. And it is hot. Scorching really. Zeus the cat is a brilliant little character and his pov chapters were hilarious. Oh The tension of the calico cat….but all is well if you eat enough tuna. This is a sweet, romantic and sexy book with hardly any angst. No cheating. Gorgeous HEA. Perfect light read for an Autumn afternoon.
