Christine Feehan is one of my favorite authors. I’ve reread most of her books so many times I’ve lost count. But the backgrounds of her characters, and the details of their childhood abuse, is beginning to really disturb me. After one Torpedo Ink book, I decided I couldn’t read that series because each book would be based around a character who suffered horrific childhood abuse. Weve already read about that type abuse in several of the Drake sisters books, especially the final one, and I honestly didn’t think I could take any more of it in the Torpedo series. Now, in this series, with the leopards, the main characters are increasingly survivors of severe childhood abuse. Traumatized characters have always been a thread running through Feehan’s books – think Skyler in the Dark series – but it seems that’s the only type of character she wants to write about now, and I don’t think I can stomach any more. I read these books to escape, to feel the emotion of the characters, to enjoy their wild, strange lives and to fall in love along with them. Increasingly I have found reading these books both disturbing and unsettling. In this book, we have three types of scenesones in which the characters detail childhood abuse, ones in which they have long, drawn out and detailed sex, and ones that are filled with violence around the mob storyline. The plot involving the mob wasnt half bad. But, the story was overwhelmed by heavy, intense, dark scenes about abuse or getting over abuse with sex. This seemed to overwhelm everything else. There were few light moments and it was very hard to believe the main couple felt romantically towards one anothersexually attracted, yes, romantic, no. Anyway, you get my point. I hate to say it, but Im done with all but the Dark series. And if that goes the way the other series have gone, then Ill have to stop that too. When romance novels are giving you nightmares there is something seriously wrong with them, or, maybe, they shouldnt be called romance any more. I dont know. I just know Im really heartbroken that my favorite author is taking this route and I cant go along with her.

I loved Feet and books. I have them all. Unfortunately I skipped more pages than I read again. She has let sex take over her books and lost her story line. This had a really good plot but the characters were sketchy and the story line lost. Please stop so much sex and go back to writing what we know and love. I will continue to buy and skip a lot of pages.

Audiobook Leopard’s Run (Leopard People #10) by Christine Feehan

This is Timur and Ashe’s story. I think Leopards Run would have been much better if it were a novella and not full length story. Eighty percent (75%) of the book is very hot erotic sex. Which is interwoven in the story. Don’t get me wrong I love a hot erotic romance story. But it at least has to have 50% storyline and Leopards Run did Not give me that. Every time we get into a dialog with Timur and Ashe or actions scenes it’s interrupted with a sex scene. This caused me to loose the storyline. After the sex scene I would have to ask myself what happen in the last part of the story. That’s not good!!

I did enjoy the bits of story that we got. I loved revisiting old characters from other Leopard series books. I really liked Timur and Ashe they are written well. I just want more story and a little less sex.

Audio Leopard’s Run (Leopard People #10) narrated by Jim Frangione

I read the early reviews and decided to take a chance on this book. Rarely I find that Feehan’s books have taken an increasingly dark and violent turn. The male dominant sex is pervasive, graphic and lengthy. I skip pages and hope i don’t miss plot. In this case there really wasn’t one. There have also been subtle and confusing changes to what the leopards can do independent of their human counterparts. The only thing I liked was the peripheral tie in with the earlier leopards. I have never reviewed a book before but I was just SO disappointed.

I have gotten to love the women in the leopard series and I love how strong they are to their counterpart. Ashe def knows how to stand up and defend herself. The thing is seeing how past heroine now have turned the opposite of how they were introduced from their story is unsettling. Timur is strong assertive and dependable. He loves and will defend his family with everything he has. Then Ashe comes on the scene looking for someone big and mean to take care of who destroyed her family. Great combo if I do say so myself. Ashe and Timur burn up together on the pages, in bed, and at the side of the house. Not going to lie I found myself skipping a lot of the sex scenes. They just got to be too much. I loved the characters interaction with each other. Looking forward to Goryas book. Is it me or does every book end with someone of Fyodors family ends up getting hurt. Like I was literally calling out hmm look around be more aware of your surroundings. Like you know your family is out to get you. Why are you being so lax? Like before they had snipers on the roof and people outside. Why was that not going on in the last fighting scene? Either way things I was thinking about while reading
Will I re-read ? Probably. Do I recommend? Only if you are invested in The Leopard series. If not dont bother.
