This book is a fairly quick read, as will be this review!
This book was fun, light, and quirky. As we all know, I tend to be a sucker for a second chance, small town romance. I don’t know what it is about them, but I seem to devour them. I am a little mad at myself for waiting so long to read this one.
This book has some really fun, spunky characters. What would a small town book be without fun, spunky characters? Small town characters always make or break a book. Am I right? These characters certainly make this book!
The reason for the hero re-entering the heroine’s life seems to be the focus, at first. It ended up being an afterthought. This little tidbit did leave me scratching my head. It was such a small thing, it made me wonder why the heroine sought out the hero for this. But, hey, it worked.
I enjoyed this book. It had some funny parts that had me giggling. It’s a pretty fun book wrapped up in just a few pages.

Aint He Precious? (Sex and Sweet Tea #1) by Juliette Poe
3.5 stars!!!
because I am connected to Ry Powers. My first love. My truest love. The most precious thing Ive ever lost and never thought Id have again
Juliette Poe is the sweet and romantic alter ego of Sawyer Bennett, an author whose books I cannot read enough of. With every book Sawyer Bennett has me captivated and Juliette Poe was no different.
Aint He Precious, in all honesty, is the length of a novella and was a really quick read. Being that it was a short I personally found I was missing that depth of character that for me is a must in my quest to connect with the characters that I am reading about. However, despite that niggle, I loved and laughed along with Trixie and Ryland and their second chance romance based in the cute southern town of Whynot, North Carolinapopulation 3,872.
the hearts of southerners are as fertile as the farmland. They accept, grow, nurture, and accommodate. At the crux of that is family, and the heart forever expands and contracts to keep the bonds safe and secure, allowing growth where necessary but providing comfort when needed.
Trixie Mancinkus and Ryland Powers had three years of history while putting themselves through law school. Both of them thought that they were it for each other, top of their class, same employers, living together, loving each other…marriage was the obvious next step, but life didnt pan out that way. Now, eleven years on, Trixie needs help on a case, so she asks Ryland to help and curiosity gets the better of him, there is nothing that he wouldnt do for Trixie, she had always been the one that got away and the feeling was definitely mutual.
You two may have only been back together two days, but you both had eleven years neither one of you let go. Thats a long time to love someone.
Trixie and Ryland had always had that connection and it seems even eleven years hasnt diluted it. As soon as these two meet, once again, those quashed feelings bubble to the surface and it seems that these two will have more than a courtroom battle to contend with, but a battle of emotions too.
Juliette Poe delivers sweet and sassy, romance and humour all wrapped up in a gorgeous setting. A town where everyone knows everyone, everyone helps everyone and that communal feel is ever present. A slower pace of life, where vandalism and speeding tickets are Trixies bread and butter, a far cry from the criminal cases in Boston that has earned Ryland his impeccable reputation.
The whole Mancinkus family were adorable and I can definitely see a few others getting their stories told, from a brother to twin sisters and a delightful grandpa this family oozed southern charm. Juliette Poe delivers a whimsical second chance romance that ticked all those boxes. I cannot wait to read more about the shenanigans in Whynot, population 3,872.
But I have a new motto since coming to Whynot: When life hands you lemons, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better.

Audiobook Ain’t He Precious by Sawyer Bennett (writing as Juliette Poe)
Juliette Poe is the alter-ego pen-name of writer Sawyer Bennett. Sawyer writes steamy contemporary romance and erotica. So, it is understandable that she should use a pen-name when launching a sweet romance line of stories.
The problem is, THIS BOOK IS NOT SWEET ROMANCE!!! Its not even in the same stratosphere of sweet romance. It has semi-steamy sex and lots and lots of it. That may be called a regular contemporary romance but NEVER a sweet romance. Believe me, my occupation requires I know the difference.
The industry standards for sweet romance are basically this: That a sweet romance emphasize the developing romantic relationship. Love scenes have no more physical intimacy than kissing. They can be tender or a bit more intense but always with undeniable sexual undercurrents which are gently stated rather than explicit.
So… judge for yourselves. Is this book Sweet? Here is a scene from the first part of the book:
Ry moves inside of me, his elbows pressed into the mattress at my ribs and his face hovering right over mine… My knees are pressed in tight against his hips, my fingertips digging down into his shoulders…
Dont want this to end, Ry murmurs as his forehead drops to rest against mine. He never stops moving though, hips still driving himself in deep.
Oh, God, I moan, not only because of the increased pace, but also because his words touch me more than anything his magic pelvis could ever do. Did you miss this? Ry demands, driving harder.
Ry just growls, his face dropping to the side. He bares his teeth, bites my neck, and I explode magnificently. My body tightens for a brief moment before my back arches hard, and I cry out in complete abandon. Ry slams in hard one last time and groans out his release into me…
Seriously? SERIOUSLY??? And this scene is just one of MANY in this short book. Yet, it is promoted extensively on every platform as sweet. NOT okay.
I dont care whether a book is sweet, steamy, erotic… whatever. Just be honest! Dont lie and deceive readers just to get a sale. It pisses them off!! I picked up this book because I was in the mood for a nice, emotion-based romance without all the steam. I not only wasted my time and money. This author lost a fan -forever.

This is a cute story about a former couple, Ryland and Trixie, who are both lawyers that now live in different places in the US. She’s a southern belle from North Carolina and he’s from the northern states, as are Trixie’s father and paternal grandfather who also live in Whynot NC. Juliette Poe is the pen name of Sawyer Bennett, and this book reminds me of some of her earlier work which are set in the world of law. It’s a pleasant read.
